The Other Stuff.

I’m sure you won’t be surprised to learn that we spent most of our day working on our plans for our booth at Roots and Blues this weekend (hereinafter known as #festivaldomination).  But because regular PJP life goes on, here are a bunch of other interesting things worth noting:

  1. As it turns out, the delicious aroma of our pies baking wafts right on through the wall to our neighbors at Tiger Bounce…so much so, that parents often ask if they can dash over and purchase a pie while their kids play.  The new owner of Tiger Bounce approached us last week and we worked together on a deal that would offer PJP tarts and babies for sale in Tiger Bounce on Saturdays and Sundays.  We started last weekend and from all indications, it was a success.  (And I suppose, if you were just having a wild craving for PJP on a Sunday, then you could stop by Tiger Bounce and see what they had left for sale.  Bouncing optional.)
  2. Coincidentally, we also had a meeting yesterday morning with another group anxious to bring PJP to the masses…Campus Dining Services at Mizzou.  Starting Monday, Wheatstone Bistro in Memorial Union will begin selling PJP tarts.  If all goes well, we will begin to supply tarts to other dining locations on campus.  MIZ-PJP.
  3. In all the crazy of #festivaldomination and tarts and other schemes for #worldpiedomination, I almost completely forgot that we leave for Las Vegas one week from Friday for a long weekend at the International Baking Industry Expo.  I have no idea what to expect, but I know we will find epic amounts of fun.  (We have big plans to Facebook Live some of our better adventures.)
  4. And somewhere squashed in the next week is the awards luncheon for the Columbia Daily Tribune’s Women in Business luncheon.  Which is perfect, because I have no time this week to think about winning or losing in my category…but it does give me a good excuse to get my nails done on Monday instead of unpacking everything from our booth this weekend.
  5. Finally, you might have seen the quick video we did this morning while Jeanne worked on chicken pot pie.  She was a complete professional…we recorded that in just one take.  I have a lengthy list of videos she should star in…starting with a tutorial on doing lattice for fruit pies.  Followed closely by a tutorial on effective oven cleaning techniques using just a razor blade and a pair of latex gloves…
