From Team PJP…

So I wasn’t going to blog today because, well, CHRISTMAS…but I found myself here with a glass of wine and thinking about all the pies that went out the door of PJP in the last few days and hoping they found good homes.  I’m weird that way.

Most of all, I wanted to drop by and say that Tuesday and Wednesday went without a hitch and there was 100% less crying than Thanksgiving week, so SUCCESS.  In short, waits were minimal, we were organized, everyone got their pies, and we even had some extras to dole out to a waiting crowd yesterday at our 1pm closing time.  We were, of course, tired.  And even a bit stabby with each other, but those are all-systems-normal for Jeanne and I.  She is spending Christmas with Dale’s family and I’m sorry to say that I miss her today, even after baking with her for 60 hours this week…

So what caused such a big difference from Thanksgiving week to Christmas week?  A lot…we were a little more clued in about what to expect and that helped.  We closed our ordering system at a lower number of pies, and while it was hard to do that, it helped.  We upped our organization and that was a game changer.  Most of all, we had you.  We were inundated this week with people stopping by to offer their time answering phones, wash dishes, make Caribou coffee runs, deliver lunch…

There were also cocktail stops:

And a sweet customer read my pleas for oven mitts and delivered several varieties…resulting in this picture…

And if you’ve never seen an exceptionally tired woman who has been baking for 18 hours wearing oven mitts as antlers, well…now you have.  My gift to you.

So thank you.  Thank you times 10,000.  We know so many of you thought of us, prayed for us, sent us good vibes, stopped in to check on us, hugged us when our aprons were covered in cocoa, and cheered for us when the doors locked at 1 pm yesterday.  Thank you.  It takes a village to build World Pie Domination and we could, in fact, be the luckiest girls in this world.  Merry Christmas, friends…
